History on Wikipedia HERE

Built at Gosport Shipyard between 1853 and 1855, the USS Constellation played a pivotal role in the 19th century American Navy. Upon her completion, she quickly entered active service and was deployed on a variety of naval missions and operations that reflected the strategic interests of the United States at the time.

One of USS Constellation's primary roles was to protect American trade routes and interests from threats of piracy and hostile forces. The frigate's speed, maneuverability, and armament made it an ideal vehicle to pursue and neutralize potential threats in various parts of the world, including the waters of the Caribbean and Atlantic.
During the U.S. Civil War, which broke out in 1861, the USS Constellation played a key role in naval operations supporting the Confederate blockade and suppressing trade with enemy forces. Her presence in strategic areas allowed the Navy to respond quickly to changing situations and secure naval dominance for the benefit of the United States.
After the end of the Civil War, USS Constellation continued her active duty, deploying on international missions, exercises, and diplomatic assignments that furthered American interests and influence on the global stage. Her long and distinguished career has made her one of the most respected vessels in the U.S. Navy fleet. After many decades in active service, the USS Constellation was transferred to Baltimore, Maryland in 1955, where she has become an important museum artifact and monument to American naval history.
