history on Wikipedia HERE

Passat was a German sailing ship built in 1911. It was a four-masted cargo schooner that was used for merchant shipping and cargo transportation. The actual size of the ship was 115 m long, 14.5 m wide and 56 m high. The ship was built at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg for the Ferdinand Laeisz company, which was known for its cargo sailing ships and its participation in the Cutty Sark cargo sailing race.

The Passat was intended primarily for the southbound trade. It sailed on various trade routes, including a trip around Cape Horn to Chile and back. During its service, it was used to transport a variety of cargoes, including grain, manure and other commodities.
After World War I, the Passat was assigned to Great Britain as war reparations and briefly served under the British flag. It was later returned to Germany and rejoined the trade.

Today, the Passat is considered a historic sailing ship and tourist attraction. It is located in the port of Travemünde, which is part of the German city of Lübeck. It is open to the public for tours and provides a glimpse of maritime history and sailing tradition.
