The ship was commissioned on September 6, 1841! It is named after its whaler and merchant owner. The ship circumnavigated Cape Horn and cruised in the Pacific Ocean for 3 years and 4 months. Upon returning home, she was loaded with a huge amount of whale products - like 600 barrels of sperm whale oil, 800 barrels of whale oil, 5 tons of whale bones. The cargo was worth 56,000 USD!
It was a typical whaling ship. It served as a base for a fleet of small whaling boats, a factory - a refinery for processing whales. And finally as a tanker to store refined oil.
The ship made countless such voyages as described above. It has sailed all the seas with sailors of many nationalities. Once even surviving a cannibal attack in the South Pacific. During her time she was owned successively by several companies. On June 30, 1924, she accidentally collided with the burning steamer Sankaty in New Bedford harbor. In the ensuing fire, the ship was severely damaged, narrowly escaping total destruction. The whaling use of the ship ended when oil began to be refined to perfection. The whaling company kept the ship in good order until 1941, when she was transferred to Mystic Seaport. After arriving at Mystic Seaport in 1941, she again narrowly escaped destruction during World War II. She was subsequently designated a National Historic Landmark. The ship was completely restored returned to its homeport of New Badford and was officially opened to the public on June 28, 2014.
One of the attractions that also draws attention to this ship is the exploration of the paranormal, and many visitors claim that the ship is haunted based on its whaling history.
The ship has a 32 m long hull, with an overall length of 40 m. The hull height is 8.4 m., draft 3.8 m., displacement 313.75 t. and the crew usually consisted of 33 men.

The kit is quite simple and the parts well moulded. This makes it suitable for beginners.
