Draft scales description:
Draft scales indicate the depth of the ship’s draught. If the water level reaches the XX mark, the bottom of the ship is submerged to a depth of 20 feet.

In past centuries, Roman numerals were used on draft scales. The numeral and the space between numerals were half a foot high. Together they equaled one foot, allowing the draught to be determined with half-foot accuracy.

Monitoring draught was very important when loading supplies and cargo to ensure even weight distribution and prevent listing. It was essential not to overload the bow or stern. It was also common for ships to have a structurally greater draught aft than forward.

HiSModel draft scales are universal for 1:110 and 1:96 scale models. The correct range and placement must be determined according to the specific model.
