This very famous sailing ship was the flagship of Sir Francis Drake. He renamed the ship in 1577 from The Pelican before his daring voyage to America. He circumnavigated South America and began plundering Spanish settlements and towns on the Pacific coast from Peru to Panama. To avoid being pursued by the Spaniards on his return journey, he decided to circumnavigate the rest of the world with a ship loaded with treasure. He completely unloaded and repaired the first ship on the coast of North America. And then the Golden Hind as the second ship crossed the Pacific Ocean, sailed through the Pacific Islands and returned to England around the Cape of Good Hope. Here he was greeted after three years in 1580 with a huge ovation. The treasure recovered was so great that the voyage earned investors an appreciation of 4700%. For this feat, Captain Drake was made a nobleman by Queen Elizabeth I.

Heller and Revell's 1972 Golden Hind may be smaller than the one made by Airfix, but the workmanship is far superior overall. The planks on the boat have the texture of wood. The kit comes with a true-to-life rigging plan except for a few details, and the kit includes plastic blocks. Therefore, I often recommend it to beginners who want to learn how to build models of historic sailing ships. Even so, I offer extensive accessories for the model, from cannons and CNC wooden blocks to sails and flags.
The kit includes molded parts, plastic sails, thread, plastic ladders, flags and stickers for the ship's railings, and a plan. The kit includes 5 sailor figures.
