Product detailed description

Description: The Bluenose double-masted schooner was launched in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia on March 26, 1921, and was originally intended for fishing in harsh waters off the coast of Newfoundland. Very soon, however, it turned out that they had created an incredibly fast ship, which under the command of Captain Angus Walters began to collect victories in all regattas along the east coast of the United States and Canada. Imagine that - an ordinary fishing boat has become the fastest yacht! Its fame spread, it reached coins and postage stamps, it was marked by the 434th Squadron of the Canadian Royal Air Force and its silhouette can be found on car license plates in Nova Scotia! Bluenos' career ended in 1946 after a shipwreck off the coast of Haiti, but the ship was not forgotten. In 1964, an exact replica of the Bluenose II was launched, which roamed the waters until 2010 - and then replaced by a newly built ship of the same name launched in 2013. Out of respect for the original vessel, the Bluenose II does not compete, but is adornment of all the regattas he visits and serves as the official "ambassador" of Nova Scotia. The Bluenose II schooner is designed for moderately advanced shipbuilders; is designed as a non-floating desktop mockup.

The Bluenose has a hull of classic wooden construction from laser-cut parts with a plank plating and a wooden deck. The kit contains all the wooden and plastic parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories, tarpaulins, etc.
