Detailed information

Product detailed description

During the American Revolutionary years from 1812 during the War of Independence with England, the Corsair American Privateer was built mainly on the East Coast. These were built primarily by arming privateer merchant ships. They were mainly smaller brigs and schooners. They attacked the supply ships of the English very successfully and inflicted considerable losses on them. They operated not only around the coast, but perhaps in the Channel of Lamanche and used French ports, as France supported the overseas struggle for independence.
Aurora's model represents a two-masted brigantine of the time. The kit was produced in the 1960s, and in that editions were probably not repeated, it is more of a rarity. The light ship, probably classed as a sloop in the Navy, was armed with 18 6 to 8 pounder guns. It is unfortunate that the gunports are molded directly on the deck. According to one foreign website, its author recommends making the following major modifications: replace the shells with others, perhaps from Heller kits. As well as other details on the deck. Make the rigging of the ship as I recommend with canvas sails and rigging with blocks. He also recommends taping the hull below the waterline with copper strips, in imitation of staying copper sheets, as was done on ships back then. So even with a very simple model we can properly play with it and make it a very interesting vessel.
